2025 Annual Awards Night Recap

NSWCUSA celebrated the 2024-25 season in style at Bankstown Sports Club with the Annual Dinner and Awards Night held on Saturday night, with 190 members and guests in attendance.
Top prize on the evening, the George Borwick Memorial Award – which honours a combination of commitment and excellence, was taken out by David Stewart, winning it with an excellent season as a member of NSW Men’s Premier Cricket Panel Two.
David’s season saw him umpire in all men’s grades, and a regular feature in Women’s First Grade with captains across the board praising his match management, as well his ability to maintain concentration and positive attitude to the game.
The EF Wykes OAM Association Medal was awarded to Doug Trigg, a member of the Far North Coast CUSA – officiating in the LJ Hooker League for his on-field performance across the season and off-field commitment to the FNCCUSA.
The evening also saw Life member Kevin Pye acknowledged for his outstanding service to NSWCUSA, inducted as the Association’s 16th Hall of Fame member and presented with a Cricket NSW Community Distinguished Service Award.
High performing members in NSW Premier Cricket were recognised with the presentation of panel medals – Darren Goodger won his tenth consecutive Men’s Panel One Medal whilst Bob McGregor was awarded the Women’s Panel One Medal.
Elizabeth O’Dwyer, Christian Rayner and Sujeewa Kodituwakku won the lower grade panel medals for the season, with strong performances across the summer which saw each receive opportunities in higher grades.
Jeff Egan’s strong summer in Country Cricket NSW representative competitions was acknowledged, awarded the Kevin Pye Medal for a season which saw him umpire the Country Bash and Country Championships Final, performing strongly in each competition.
Long serving Gordon DCC scorer Andrew Falk was awarded the Malcolm Gorham Scorers’ Award, recognising his ability as a scorer and the contribution he makes to his club.
Aseem Ahluwalia received the Alan Marshall Medal for rookie umpire of the year, having been appointed to make his Men’s Third Grade debut in his first season.
Emotional presentations were made on the night to Andrew Hamilton and Simon Lightbody, who have retired from professional umpiring, as well as Greg Davidson who it was announced would not have his contact renewed by Cricket Australia.
Riverina umpires Pat Kerin OAM and Graham Moon were both presented with certificates acknowledging their milestones of officiating in 700 matches, both of which were brought up at the Bradman Cup carnival played in January.
