Both of Australian cricket’s limited overs domestic titles will be decided for 2024-25 this weekend as the final of both the One-Day Cup and WNCL are held in Adelaide and Brisbane.
We congratulate Gerard Abood and Ben Treloar who have been appointed to officiate Sunday’s WNCL Final at Allan Border Field between Queensland and New South Wales.
It will be the second time Abood has been in the middle for the WNCL Final, having officiated the 2009 Final between New South Wales and Victoria, which was played at the SCG – with the match to be his sixth WNCL fixture.
This season so far has been busy for Abood, having officiated a first-class match between Australia A v India A, four Sheffield Shield matches, four One-Day Cup matches, and seven BBL|14 fixtures.
Treloar has been appointed as Third Umpire for the match, his third involvement in the decider, having been on-field in 2020 and 2022 as Western Australia and Tasmania respectively took out the Ruth Preddy Cup.
Similar to Abood, Treloar has had a busy season, including standing in three WT20Is as Australia hosted New Zealand in September and England in January.
Domestically he has umpired a first-class match between Australia A v India A, five Sheffield Shield matches, five One-Day Cup matches, and eight BBL|14 fixtures.
The pair will be joined by Tasmania’s Mike Graham-Smith, who will partner Abood on-field with Kepler Wessels overseeing proceedings as Match Referee.
Local scorers Tracy Moody and Doug O’Neil are recording the match.
South Australia and Victoria will contest the Dean Jones Trophy in Saturday afternoon’s One-Day Cup Final at the Adelaide Oval.
Tasmanian umpire Sam Nogajski and Queensland’s Donovan Koch have been appointed on-field for that match, Victorian Phil Gillespie will be TV Umpire.
Steve Davis is the Match Referee, with local scorers Mick Harper and Neil Rickets in the scorer’s box.
Both matches will be streamed live and free on cricket.com.au and shown on Kayo, with the One-Day Cup to also be broadcast on Fox Cricket.
The One-Day Cup match begins at 2.35pm AEDT on Saturday, whilst the WNCL begins on Sunday at 1.35pm AEDT.
