The funeral for former member and wonderful contributor to cricket in the Campbelltown and Camden district, Don Voegt, was conducted yesterday (16 October) following Don's passing on 5 October. As an umpire, Don was held in high regard, officiating in 176 matches in NSW Premier Cricket, reaching First Grade. He was respected as an effective manager of matches, a clear communicator and a strong and supportive partner. His dry sense of humour always assured an entertaining day in the middle and you certainly always knew where you stood in Don's estimation. He made a significant contribution to the Association in the challenging and important role of Merchandise Officer. As both President of the Campbelltown Camden District CC and Camden District Cricket Umpires' Association, Don gave significantly of his time and experience for the benefit of his local cricket community. A friend to many, he will be widely missed.
