Congratulations to NSWCUSA scorer Janelle Carew who will make her First Class debut today at Cricket Central when NSW take on Western Australia in the final round of the Sheffield Shield. She becomes the 22nd member to reach First Class since scorers joined the Association.
Janelle started scoring for her son’s U10s team over 20 years ago. As her son grew and moved on to Georges River Shires club, so did Janelle. Around round 5 in the 2014/2015 season an opportunity arose for a 1st grade scorer for the UNSW Men’s team where Janelle was taken on board and has now completed her 11th season for the Club.
In 2021 Janelle won the coveted Malcolm Gorham Scorer’s Award sharing the win with the rival Sydney University’s scorer. Janelle commenced her representative scoring pathway scoring the junior pathways for Cricket NSW in or about 2018 progressing through to WNCL, WBBL, BBL and Toyota 2nd XI games up to today.
We wish Janelle well for what will surely be a hotly contested clash. Her scorer partner will be Adrian Tham, with Sanjeev Undri on scoreboard duties.
