Wade Selected on Country Panel

Newcastle-based umpire Stephen Wade has been elevated to the NSW Country Umpire Representative Panel for the 2024-25 season.

Wade will become the 58th umpire to officiate as a member of the Country Panel, selected on the back of strong performances in Country Cricket carnivals in recent years.

Last season, Wade officiated at the Country Colts and Bradman Cup tournaments, impressing selectors with his attitude, teamwork and composure across the multi-day carnivals.

State Umpiring Manager Darren Goodger welcomed Wade to the Panel, “He is a welcome addition to the Country Panel, and we wish him all the best for an enjoyable and successful experience.”

He joined NSWCUSA in 2018 and umpires locally as a member of the Newcastle District Cricket Umpires’ Association.

In the last two seasons, he has been appointed to both the Newcastle District Cricket Association Second Grade Final and the Summer Bash Final.

NSWCUSA thanks and acknowledges long-serving Country Panel umpire John De Lyall, who will not continue as a member of the Panel after five seasons.

De Lyall made a significant contribution in his time on the Panel, officiating in four Country Championships carnivals, widely respected by colleagues for his attitude and enthusiasm.

The panel of nine umpires will service Country Cricket NSW programs, including the Country Championships and Plan B Country Bash, and be invited to officiate in NSW Premier Cricket throughout the season.

Country Umpire Coach Neil Findlay enters a fifth season in his role, working closely with the Panel throughout the season in a 1-on-1 capacity.
